What is the National Charity League?
Mindy

The National Charity League is a service organization designed to support the relationship of Mothers & Daughters volunteering together to help others.  It was founded in 1925 in California by a group of mothers volunteering for the Red Cross. When a few of their daughter's joined them volunteering, NCL was born.

Since then, NCL has grown dramatically to over 170 chapters nationwide including 13 in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metropolitan area. NCL is the only national organization committed to fostering the mother-daughter relationship through philanthropic, leadership, and cultural activities together and in peer groups.

NCL operates a three pillared approach with equal focus on philanthropy, leadership development, and cultural awareness.

NCL Addison
established in 2001

We are proud to say that NCL Addison is celebrating our 10th anniversary this year.  Our chapter of 319 Mothers and Daughters work together to support 21 charities in our community.  We have members from 5 different area schools, the largest percentage attend Trinity Christian Academy located in Addison, Texas.

We pride ourselves in our dedication to the three pillars of the National Charity League:

Philanthropy, Leadership & Cultural Awareness.
Philanthropy
Provisional Work Project

In the 2010 NCL calendar year, our chapter volunteered almost 6,000 hours.  Every Member of NCL Addison is required to work a minimum number of hours to maintain membership, but we have lots of members that go above and beyond the requirements.

68 of our Mother/Daughter teams earned the Mother Daughter Award for volunteering at least 30 hours together.

Awards were presented to Ticktockers that worked the highest number of service hours in each grade and for individual Ticktockers that volunteered 50, 75 or 100 or more hours above and beyond the required hours.

Seniors are honored individually for their service during their 6 year term with NCL at the annual Senior Presentation.

We volunteer as a group through chapter-wide events, in small groups and individually, and have lots of fun doing it!
Leadership
Ronald McDonald Playground
One of the main goals of NCL Addison is the development of our daughters into strong leaders through service.

Ticktockers participate in a 6 year leadership program which combines training and hands on experience with committee work and leadership positions.

Each Ticktocker has the opportunity to serve in a leadership position within her grade level during her tenure with NCL Addison.

We are a service organization run solely by volunteers. Each member, both Mother & Daughter, must serve annually in a position serving the chapter.  We are governed by a nominated Board of Directors that sets the direction for the chapter.
Cultural Awareness
The third pillar of NCL is Cultural Awareness. NCL Addison participates in annual events which support the awareness of different cultures within our community.
NCL Addison Membership
Membership in NCL Addison is  both fulfilling and rewarding.  It takes both dedication of time & a heart for service.  Through this 6 year program, members have fun, work hard and celebrate their achievements.
